Simultaneous Interpreting Ukrainian – Croatian
What Is Simultaneous Interpreting
In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter renders the speech at the same time as the speaker, with a delay of only a few seconds. Listeners follow the presentation without interruption, and the event takes no longer than it would without interpreting.
I provide simultaneous interpreting between Ukrainian and Croatian for conferences, seminars, training sessions, business presentations and other events where communication needs to flow without breaks.
Forms of Simultaneous Interpreting
- Booth interpreting: the interpreter works from a soundproof booth and listeners follow the interpretation through headsets. This is standard for conferences and larger gatherings.
- Whispered interpreting (chuchotage): the interpreter sits next to one or two listeners and interprets quietly for them. Suitable for smaller meetings and site visits, with no special equipment.
- Remote simultaneous interpreting: interpreting via video meeting platforms that support separate interpretation channels. More on the Remote Interpreting page.
When It Is Used
- Conferences and congresses: presentations and discussions in front of a large audience
- Seminars and training: lectures, workshops and professional development
- Business presentations: product launches, trade fairs and partner meetings
- Public events: round tables, panel discussions and official receptions
- Meetings with many participants: when consecutive interpreting would make the meeting too long
Preparing for the Event
Good preparation is essential for high-quality simultaneous interpreting. Before the event, a few details need to be agreed:
- Programme and duration: schedule of presentations, breaks and total length of the event
- Preparation materials: presentations, speech texts, a list of technical terms and participants' names
- Technical equipment: booth, headsets and sound system – usually provided by the organiser or a technical supplier
- Number of interpreters: for longer events, simultaneous interpreting is normally done in pairs so the interpreters can take turns and maintain quality
Price
The price of simultaneous interpreting is set individually, depending on the length and type of event, the subject matter and the preparation required. Send the basic details of your event and you will receive a quote. Prices for other services are listed in the price list.
