Croatian Lessons for Foreigners – Zadar & Online

As a permanent court interpreter for Ukrainian, I work every day with people who have just moved to Croatia and need Croatian for work, the doctor, school and government offices. I offer one-to-one Croatian lessons for foreigners, focused on the language you actually need in daily life in Croatia.

Who the Lessons Are For

• Beginners: the Latin alphabet, pronunciation and everyday situations
• Foreign workers: workplace vocabulary and talking to employers and colleagues
• Professionals: doctors, nurses and others who need a higher level of Croatian to work in their field
• Exam candidates: preparation for the Croatian language exam for permanent residence or for renewing a residence and work permit
• Employers: lessons for your employees, one-to-one or in small groups

How the Lessons Work

• One-to-one or in pairs: a programme built around your goal, level and schedule
• Online or in Zadar: via Zoom, Google Meet or Viber from anywhere in Croatia, or in person in Zadar
• Real-life material: forms, letters from offices, rental contracts, doctor visits, job ads

Croatian Exam for Permanent Residence and Foreign Workers

Permanent residence in Croatia requires a certificate of Croatian language proficiency. Exams in Croatian as a foreign language are run by, among others, the universities of Rijeka and Osijek. Under the amendments to the Foreigners Act, from June 2027 certain categories of foreign workers will have to pass a Croatian exam at level A1.1 to renew their residence and work permit.

I prepare students for every part of the exam. Requirements can change, so check the current rules for your situation with your local police administration.
